We recently took stock of the developments and improvements in our city with the State of the City Address.
The 2019 State of the City update event was successful. The address was delivered in the morning hours at Lakes Country Club. On Thursday, September 19, 2019, Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce partnered with the City of Menifee to provide a full year update of what we have achieved for the past 12 months. I find the update the right event accomplished at the right time to update us on how far we've come with development and social services provision.
If you have listened to the 2019 Menifee State of the City Address, you will agree with me that we have come so far in only twelve months. Its development, improved services, and more development here in Menifee as we have surpassed 100,000 residents.
George Mills, the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce Chair proudly introduced Mayor Bill Zimmerman to deliver the much-awaited address. Mills said: “ … Mayor Zimmerman has been a resident of Menifee since 1989. So he has seen it all in the region and we are fortunate to have a Mayor that is easy to connect with, and has an open door.”
When he took the podium for the 11th Annual State of the City Address, Mayor Bill Zimmerman began by expressing his satisfaction to the current leadership of Menifee for overseeing a successful services delivery within the past year. “We are 11 years old, and remember when we were kids we turned 11. We are feeling like a big kid. We are heading into middle school.” These are Zimmerman's introductory words that review Menifee City developments, recent accomplishments, successes, and future plans for this growing city.
Do you remember Measure DD? I believe you do. You voted for 1% sales tax in November 2016. Mayor Zimmerman has praised the decisions you made to approve Measure DD in the last elections. According to Zimmerman, Its benefits are already evident.
Here is the list of activities supported by Measure DD and the improvements updates outlined in the 2019 State of the City Address.
Public Safety
Courtesy of Measure DD, it has been possible to build a police station, hire more officers, reduce response time, and increase patrol. I have witnessed a strong policing presence in every corner of the city.
Vital Infrastructure
Reconstruction of Scott Road I-215 Interchange began in the summer of 2018 to improve freeway access and ease traffic. More work is ongoing in various sections of Scott Road, and more work is scheduled in this same road.
Two more bridges are scheduled for construction. A four-lane bridge over I-215 and Holland Rd Overpass is slated to begin in 2022.
Construction of new sidewalks and improvement of sidewalk signs for improved safety are evident across Menifee City.
Road resurfacing and adding new traffic signals are evident.
Under the leadership of Bill Zimmerman and the entire Menifee governance team, there is significant evidence of progress in critical infrastructure development and enhanced public safety. Measure DD was not a mistake, and Menifee is destined for greatness in the future.
