Since 1958, the DeJong family has been operating their dairy in Wlidomar, producing healthy and wholesome dairy products for the IE since opening. The family began with one cow ,and and with their seven children they began their business at their 30-acre location. They neither advertise nor deliver milk. They have built their customer-base the Old Fashioned way, thru word of mouth and thru a hard-earned superior reputation.
This working dairy produces over 500 gallons of milk a day, selling regular, 2-percent and what many tout as "the best chocolate milk in the world", and has done so for years. With a wde array of dairy products, regulars stop by to purchase all their needs locally.
Local children enjoy the petting zoo, and seasonally the dairy has tours of the dairy portion of the farm as well. The last dairy tour for the season is this Friday at 10am. Visitors are able to feed the cows and calves, and tour the milking barn, observe the bottling process and there is a sampling of cookies with DeJong's famous chocolate milk. The cost of the tour is a modest $3.00 per person. DeJong's requests that those desiring to tour call ahead.
Tours are normally held September thru May. The petting zoo is open year-round from 8am - 8pm for everyone's enjoyment.
DeJong's Dairy is located at 31910 Corydon Road; Wildomar (951) 674-2910.
