When it comes to festivals and community parties, no one does it better than Menifee. This year, Menifee will be having its first ever Oktoberfest on October 17th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the event’s motto is “Eat, Drink and be Merry”.
Menifee festivals are always a spectacle to look forward to, from our city Independence Day celebration to the more recent police engagement funfair, community leaders, city officials and the Chamber of Commerce always come together to prepare quality entertainment for residents and nearby families.
This year's Oktoberfest is a first in the city, but just one more of the advantages that is making our tight-knit city a headliner in Southern California.
The event organizers went above and beyond to market Menifee’s Oktoberfest, landing them a powerhouse sponsor. The official sponsor of this year's Oktoberfest is Anheuser-Busch, one of the largest beer breweries in the nation. The event will be featuring beer from this household name brand and will be presenting a special German beer that evening.
So far the list of activities and amenities is long. The event will be featuring various activities for families and arts and craft booths as well as general entertainment all round. Stations have been set aside for contests and races with a focus on creating a fun-filled evening while experiencing the different brews that Anheuser-Busch has to offer under the backdrop of great music.
Around the world, the concept of Oktoberfest is taking off, predominantly popular in Germany and Holland. Oktoberfest is usually a celebration of beer that is held in the autumn. Cities from all over the world organize large-scale events featuring a variety of brews, and in recent years, craft breweries have inhabited a larger role in the festivities, usually presenting October and fall inspired brew editions.
Over the past three years, craft breweries have made October-inspired editions a staple of their variety, with one of the most popular being Sam Adams Octoberfest. The company also makes seasonal brews for winter (Cold Snap) and summer (Summer Ale). Both companies have been in a bitter battle over the past year.
But this year, all of the beers on display will be from Anheuser-Busch.
Food will be a major part of Oktoberfest 2015. When it comes to beer, food-pairing is essential to getting the best experience from your brew. There will be food booths and tables set up throughout Wickerd Farms for those in attendance to pair their drinks up up with, and families with children can take advantage of the train rides that will be set up on the premises.
There is still time for vendors to get in contact with event organisers to reserve a booth. The last time we checked, there were five booths available, and event organizers were looking for arts and craft vendors and activity vendors.
